I started the image module with a small idea of what image was actually about, in taking part in this project I have learned that there are so many different ways to tackle a brief using image, i.e. 2D/3D/2D, photography, Type as image etc. Before this I just thought photos and illustrations where pretty much the borders of design but now I know that is not true. I believe I have carried out a reasonable effort throughout the module and wish I would of had more time to work on some of the image briefs as they were very exciting but also clashed with other briefs. This helped me realise that there is never going to be a time as a free lance graphic designer when you have a brief you like and can spend all your time just on that, you have to learn to juggle. My target was to gain more knowledge and make more slides for my portfoli, I can honestly say that I have made some remarkable pieces to add to my portfolio and am proud to say that I did them. However I believe I could of improved my grade by providing more variety to some of my work and making it much more detailed and focused within the easter holidays.
Without research the image module would of been a fail for me, I have done quite a lot of research only I have been an idiot and not documented all of it, I think that if I did not look at some o the examples that were provided on my briefings I would of struggled, The briefings were very informative, inspiring and gave me a strong concept and design direction and had relative and appropriate examples of what was being asked of us.
I have gained so much from this module, I now understand the design directon more, the different types of applying image, image is so much more fun than type, but I didn't say that.. also I have a firm understanding about having to make decisions cause there isnt time to mess around, I think that was one of the key elements which will help me with all my projects in the future, having the backbone to make a decision and stand by it.
Next time;
1. As per usual a time schedule, perhaps not for my image module but for the other modules on, if I had done more work for them I would of had more time to use on image.
2. Screen print experimenting, I have been meaning to do it but havent fond the time or appropriate piece I wanted to try it with.
3. pre knowledge of expenses. print is obviously a dear thing depending on scale, luckly bow I have a job with the ta I have an income which can pay for these costs.
4. Variety of development and different ideas before I jump into one.
5. Be more creative, get out of comfort zones, be new.
